Today the Cresci Family runs
the farm wi
th
great care and attention for those details that
make your vacation a pleasant, relaxing experience.
Since 1883 the Cresci family
owns a specialized pipe factory that produces handcrafted
pipes.
The Cresci family name originates
in Montereggi, Tuscany and is proud to be descended
from the Tragualzi and the Cruciani-del Fede families.
They were renown as fabric dyers and their workshops
were based at the "Stinche".
The family was awarded the
prioryship of the town fifteen times between 1380
and 1525 and Andrea di Cresci Di Lorenzo was the
standard bearer of justice in 1470. Cresci, his
father was one of the ten provosts for the Volterani
wars. In 1420 a branch of the family transferred
to Pistoia.
The Cresci family has been
involved in the making of pipe bowls since at least
1883; the skills of this ancient craft have been
passed down from father to son. [ www.segheriemaremmane.com
