One of the hardest parts about coming up with and implementing bedroom designs for couples is the fact that often times what a man imagines wanting his bedroom to look like and what a woman imagines her bedroom to look like are two very different things. This causes a natural conflict as many times the two differing visions do not have a lot of middle ground. This will not always be the case, but it happens often enough that creating a true compromise for a bedroom that both individuals will love can turn out to be quite a challenge and in fact is often the hardest room to agree upon.
Many times the best way to go is to have an understanding of who the room is most important to. If the guy has a man cave in the basement, for example, there is no need for a TV in the bedroom. Likewise it is important to understand the basic function of the room and not create a set up that is so uncomfortable for one partner that they don’t have the ability to get a good night’s rest. Understanding a few of the basic outlines that go into creating the ideal room will help make sure the design doesn’t swing too far one way or the other.
Start With The Common Ground
One of the best ways to tackle a design, especially if is a customized one, is to start with the common ground on what individuals can agree upon. Usually going with extra thick curtains is a good start to make sure light doesn’t spill into the bedroom at night. Another place to go is starting with the type of bed that the couple prefers in the bedroom and then working around that. Being able to start at a place of neutral common ground instead of arguing about the details means there’s a better chance of finding a compromise in the bedroom designs for couples that are available.
Even if the two individuals have different tastes, there are likely some things that they both find either comforting or discomforting. Taking special care to emphasize the former and to try to avoid problems with the latter will go a long way towards getting a design that meets the needs of everyone who is involved.
Why Not Look At Pinterest
While many people might not think about social media when it comes to decorating their home, it might be worth their time to reconsider. The truth is that there are many people who take design and interior design seriously and there are literally thousands of different ideas shared on Pinterest that can be viewed. Why not consider how something looks from actual bedrooms that have already pulled off the look?
This can be a great way to compare ideas, find one that both of you can agree on, and even allows you to use them just as a base as you work to put your own spin on things.
